Quick version: Capterra and Software Advice share one Gartner database, so their scores match. G2 runs separately. The signal that matters is consistency across all three, not any single rating.
Editorial disclosure: Vibefam publishes this guide and competes in the boutique fitness studio software category. Every rating, percentage, and reviewer count here is sourced, and every source is listed in the bibliography at the end.
Why do three review platforms show different scores?
Most studio operators search "best studio management software," click the first three links, scan the ratings, and move on. Those links are almost always Capterra, G2, and Software Advice, and the three pages can paint very different pictures of the same product. The differences are information, not noise.
The reason scores diverge: each platform measures a different audience. A 4.0 on Capterra and a 3.7 on G2 for the same product is not a contradiction. It tells you the owner-operators on Capterra and the SaaS-forward reviewers on G2 weigh the product differently.
Why it matters to you: migrating client data and retraining staff after a bad pick burns an instructor's salary in lost time. Reading the platforms correctly is the cheapest insurance you can buy before you commit.
What is each platform, at a glance?
The three platforms are not interchangeable. Their ownership, audience, and review depth differ in ways that change how you should read the scores.
| Platform | Owner | Audience | In this category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capterra | Gartner | Owner-operators (Owner, Founder, GM) | Longest histories, largest counts |
| Software Advice | Gartner | Same Gartner database as Capterra | Counts match Capterra one-to-one |
| G2 | Independent | Modern-SaaS, tech-forward operators | Smaller, often more recent counts |
Treat Capterra and Software Advice as one source. Mindbody shows 2,990 reviews on Capterra and 2,990 on Software Advice. WellnessLiving shows 608 on both. They confirm each other, they do not independently verify each other.
How do the rating methodologies differ?
All three use a five-star overall rating plus four secondary ratings: ease of use, customer support, value for money, and functionality. A verified review is a verified review on any platform. What differs is who chose to leave it.
Verification, briefly: Capterra and Software Advice verify reviewers by business email, LinkedIn, or screenshot evidence. G2 verifies by LinkedIn, business email, or vendor invitation links. All three moderate for plagiarism and AI-generated content and allow public vendor responses.
Which platform should you weight for which product?
The right platform to trust most depends on the product's age. Established players hold their deepest histories on Capterra; newer entrants often build on G2 first.
Legacy products skew Capterra-heavy. Mindbody's 2,990 Capterra reviews against its 509 G2 reviews is roughly 5 to 1. WellnessLiving's 608 versus 197 is closer to 3 to 1. When the ratio is that lopsided, Capterra carries the depth.
Newer products skew G2-fresh. In our observations supporting boutique studios across North America and APAC, products built in the past five years often invest in G2 first, so a smaller G2 base can describe a more current release than a larger but older Capterra base.
Single-platform presence is itself a signal. Rezerv has 65 Capterra reviews and no G2 profile. Arketa shows 88 on Capterra and no G2 profile. Where a product shows up tells you where it has invested in social proof.
Reading consistency: the strongest signal
The single most useful signal in this framework is cross-platform consistency. Watch the Capterra-to-G2 gap, since Capterra and Software Advice share a database and move together.
| Product | Capterra | G2 | Software Advice | Spread |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vibefam | 4.8 | 4.9 | 4.8 | 0.1 |
| ABC Glofox | 4.4 | 4.5 | 4.4 | 0.1 |
| WellnessLiving | 4.4 | 4.5 | 4.4 | 0.1 |
| Mindbody | 4.0 | 3.7 | 4.0 | 0.3 |
| Momence | 3.9 | 3.0 | 3.9 | 0.9 |
How to read the spread: healthy products sit near a 0.1 Capterra-to-G2 gap. The outliers are Mindbody at 0.3, which is statistically meaningful, and Momence at 0.9, which sits on a noisy 3-review G2 base and should be read with caution.
Secondary ratings tell the real story
Headline ratings smooth out the friction. Value for money is consistently the lowest secondary rating in this category.
The clearest example: Mindbody's value-for-money rating on Capterra is 3.6, a 0.4 gap below its 4.0 overall, and the reviews behind it repeatedly cite pricing structure and contract terms. When a secondary score sits well under the overall, the headline is hiding something.
What review platforms cannot tell you
Three platforms together still leave a gap no aggregator can close. The review base under-represents two voices: the operator who churned in the first 90 days and never wrote a review, and the operator locked into a contract who fears vendor retaliation.
Do three things the platforms cannot do for you. Ask the vendor for two direct customer references in your size range and category, and call them. Run a 14 to 30 day trial with real client data, not a sandbox. Request a migration audit call before committing, and judge the platform on how it handles your studio's messy edge cases.
Applying the framework (including to us)
By 2026, studio members expect a modern booking experience, and operators expect cross-platform consistency backed by AI that is native rather than bolted on as a paid add-on. The fastest-growing US boutique studios standardize on AI-native, purpose-built platforms for this reason.
In our observations supporting boutique studios across North America and APAC, the platforms that score highest across all three sites at once are the ones with this consistency. Vibefam, which gives boutique studios comprehensive software across operations and marketing, holds 4.8 on Capterra, 4.9 on G2, and 4.8 on Software Advice, with secondary ratings clustered at 4.8 and a 4.7 on functionality. The framework is the point, not the example. Use it on every product you evaluate, including this one.
